Horizon Prep is pleased to offer the Arrowsmith Program to our existing families as well as to students from the greater San Diego community. We are the only school in Southern California to offer this cognitive program for students.
WHAT IS THE ARROWSMITH PROGRAM?
Advanced neuroscience research shows that a person’s brain has the ability to strengthen and grow. When challenged, one’s brain strengthens the weaker neural pathways. The Arrowsmith Program consists of specialized cognitive exercises that challenge targeted areas of the brain that contribute to learning difficulties. These cognitive exercises boost the capacity and ability of a student to perform complex tasks in areas previously strenuous.
The Arrowsmith Program brings breakthrough findings in the field of neuroscience to the education and development of students. The program is uniquely designed to address the needs of students with average to above-average IQs who struggle with learning dificulties.
The Arrowsmith Program tailors cognitive exercises to the unique requirements of each student. Upon completion of the program, results show that students are able to participate in full age-appropriate academic curriculum, with most no longer requiring academic support and/or curriculum modification. This enables each student to better realize his/her potential.
Candidates for the program are bright students but find difficulty learning in the following areas:
- Logical reasoning
- Visual memory
- Executive function
- Auditory memory
