The Blessing of a 'B': Teaching our Kids the Value of Perspective

Every child is different, of course, but many of us have had a child (or were the child) that did everything well.  Whether it was God-given talent and ability or a lot of hard work, or both, these kids are accustomed to success. These kids make the teams, win the awards, and get the A’s.  Lots of A’s. Unfortunately, these are often the kids who are most shaken when things don’t go their way - when they get that first B.

While we as parents may not want to celebrate the B with our child, we can definitely take the opportunity to help our child learn a few important lessons through their 'B'.

Welcome our new Head of Schools, Dr. Erik Konsmo

Horizon Prep is very excited to welcome and introduce our new Head of Schools, Dr. Erik Konsmo.  Dr. Konsmo joined us just as the school year was ready to begin in late August.  Erik comes with 11 years of experience as Headmaster of Renton Christian School in Renton, Washington.  Erik’s education was in Theology and he brings a lot of energy and excitement to his new role here.

With technology changing so quickly, our children are one step ahead of us. Once we have a grasp of the newest and greatest, the next best thing is out and we haven’t caught up yet. While it sometimes feels like we won’t be able to keep up, there are a few things that we can do to help manage our kids’ tech lives, and more importantly, to help them manage it themselves.
